Program Overview

EMPLOYER SPONSORED GROUP BENEFITS TRANSITION PROGRAMS

During employment your compensation plan included long term disability, extended health care and dental benefits. The recent change in status with your employer impacts the continuation of these programs.

In order to assist you in extending these benefits, options are available to continue coverage within a period of time after your current employee benefits are terminated. It is important to your health and well-being with the challenges in the Canadian health care system to evaluate alternatives to look after yourself and family.

Health &/or Dental Insurance Plan Continuation

When your coverage terminates from the employer sponsored plan you can apply for an individual-family program with different levels of benefit. You can extend health &/or dental coverage by applying within 60 days of the loss of the benefits without medical underwriting.

You will qualify for coverage under this plan if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have been covered by an employer plan prior to termination\
  • You apply for coverage within 60 days of termination of benefits

This special offer for your health and dental insurance bridges the gap in your government health insurance plan.

Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance Plan Continuation

Protecting your income in the event of a sickness or injury is important to your fiscal well-being. Immediately upon termination of employment your long term disability coverage also ends even though you may have an extension of coverage for health and dental plan. During your career transition you do not qualify to purchase individual disability protection.

Disability insurance for out placed employees is a program to protect your most important asset your ability to earn an income. This program is designed to provide you long term disability protection during your career transition.

You may qualify for coverage under this plan if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are age 60 or less
  • You have been at work full time at full pay for at least the last 12 months
  • You apply for this coverage within 90 days of your last day at work

You must complete an application and the insurer may request additional medical information.
